Vera S. Hannigan

Vera Hannigan, born August 20, 1932, a mother, friend, daughter, sister, lifelong learner, wife and dedicated public servant, was called home on September 23, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband John Hannigan who passed on January 29th of this year. Vera is survived by her youngest sister, Patricia Barry, her three children, Steve, Vera and Susan, ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A memorial service is planned at her church, Reston Bible Church, for November 17, 2011 at 3:00 PM. The following day, November 18th, Vera will be inurned at 10:00 AM alongside her husband at Arlington National Cemetery attended by a small family gathering. Vera Hannigan lived life boldly and well, setting a high standard for public involvement and service. If the ultimate question concerning each of our lives were to be posed as to whether the world is a better place BECAUSE we were here, those of us fortunate to have known her would join in staunch support with a resounding "YES !".
