South Paris- Betty Gould Mason, the wife of Bertrum A. Mason Jr passed away peacefully with Bruce and Joanne by her side on Monday, July 11, 2022. She was the daughter of Raymond and Lillian Wallace Gould of Auburn.
Betty married Bertrum A. Mason, Jr. on May 16, 1948 (Bert predeceased Betty in 2009). She attended Auburn schools and was a graduate of Edward Little High School class of 1942. She went to work at the Sun-Journal newspaper the day after graduating and enjoyed a lifelong career retiring alongside her husband January 23,1987 with a combined total of 84 years!
In retirement they focused on traveling, with leisure time visiting most all of the United States including Hawaii. Betty and Bert built their cottage on Little Wilson Pond in Turner in 1952 and into a year round home in 1962. They so enjoyed entertaining at their Pond home which was the gathering place for family and friends creating lifelong memories.
Surviving are her son, Bruce A. Mason and his wife Joanne of Hanover, their children Andrea and her husband Aaron and great grandson Liam of Poland, Paul and his wife Mindy of Litchfield, Roger and his daughter Abigail of Litchfield and Leianne and her children Madison and Jackson of Gloucester MA. Also surviving her are her niece's and nephews Charlie Bennett and his wife Carmen of Bridgeton, Betty Elaine and her husband Everett of Chelan WA, Susan Stover and her husband Brandon of Brentwood, NH. Kelly Stewart and her husband Bob of Sumner and Gregory Gould and his wife Linda of Tappahannock, VA, Barbara and her husband Alan of Sumner, her sister-in-law Dora Marcum of Lewiston and brother-in-law Fred (Bud) Pike, Jr. of Auburn and many niece's, nephews and cousins.
She is also survived by her and Bert’s very dear friends Bill and Diane Harting of Plymouth, MA and their families.
She was predeceased by her sisters Edith Bennett, Ellen Harms and brothers Robert and Richard Gould.
Betty was a resident of Market Square Memory Care of South Paris for the past 2.5 years. We are grateful for Amy, Carol, Penny, Sue and staff for the love and care she received while residing there. We would also like to thank Rae and her team from Beacon Hospice for their kind, compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to Market Square Memory Care or American Heart Association of Maine.

A graveside service will be held at Gracelawn Memorial Park, Saturday, July 30 at 10:00 am with a celebration of life following the service at their home at Little Wilson Pond in Turner.
