He was born in Van Buren on August 24, 1941, one of three boys born to Ulric and Elizabeth-Anne (Bellefleur) Daigle. Carmel grew up and attended schools in New Brunswick, Canada. Following his high school graduation he continued his education and obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Business from St. Joseph's College in Moncton, New Brunswick, which is known today as the University of Moncton. On October 20, 1962, he married the former Jeannine Lebel in Van Buren and together they settled in Lewiston to raise their family. As a young man settling in Lewiston Carmel worked as the Credit Manager for W.T. Grant Co. and then as Director of Patient Accounts for CMMC. He then transitioned into the Insurance profession and spent several years as a local and well-known insurance agent for Prudential Insurance Co. until his retirement in 1988. During his time with Prudential Carmel was consistently the top-producing sales representative in the state of Maine, and was recognized as such many times by the company. He and his wife Jeannine traveled extensively over the years while working for Prudential and after retirement, both within the United States and in the Caribbean. Among his favorite enjoyments both prior to and after retirement was enjoying his home which he designed and built in 1991. Jeannine, I wish to offer my deepest condolences to you and your family on Jun’s passing. I will always be grateful for the meals and visits when I was at boarding school in Moncton. I remember being so surprised the first time you both came to see me at the College. I was ecstatic to have visit from home since I was so far away. Always had a great time with the two of you. Will be praying for you and the family. Love, Cousin Colette (a Béo and Claire). Thanks for the memory and God bless.

Carmel was many things, a father, a friend, a successful businessman but most of all to me, he was like a grandfather. My family moved to Maine from Pennsylvania when I was very young. We lived on Sherbrooke avenue and Carmel and Jeanine not only welcomed us to the neighborhood but adopted us as there family. We spent a lot of time and built many cherished memories. Carmel was the leader of our street and if anyone had any problems they went to him. He made everyone feel loved. I am now 35 years old and I will never forget the mark he made on my heart as a young girl who had no relatives near by. He made me laugh with his dry sense of humor and unforgettable wit. Carmel will he missed by so many and will never be forgotten. His legacy will on through all of us with our stories and memories of him.

I am proud to of known you and will never forget you.

Rest peacefully

Favorite memory was when we used to play baseball by the house and when I put a baseball thru their window we joked about it over the past 30 plus yrs.
