Auburn - Cecile E. (Caron) Bishop 90, of Sopers Mill Rd. Auburn passed away peacefully on Thursday January 13, 2011 at The Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice. She was born April 28, 1920 in Lewiston, the oldest of 11 children. She was the daughter of Pierre and Angelina (Bosse) Caron. She married Allen M. Bishop on February 16, 1969, he predeceased her in 1993. She was a foster grandparent for the Auburn School System for over 25 years. She volunteered her time at Sherwood Heights Elementary School, summer programs at Fairview School, and when Park Avenue School opened she began volunteering there with her teacher Becky Skilling. Known as Mrs. B and Grammie B to the children and staff, she enjoyed going to work everyday, helping the children to learn to read and write. She had a natural gift to teach them and touch the lives of so many children. She owned and operated Caron's Sewing Center in New Auburn. She was a seamstress and did alterations. In her younger years, she worked at Androscoggin Mill as a textile worker, including many jobs as weaving, filling bobbins, cloth doffer, and office work. Cecile was a member of St. Louis Church where she taught CCD to young children for over ten years. She was a lifetime member of the Ladies of St. Anne, a sixty year member of 4H, and a 4H leader of Progressive Workers 4H Club for fifty-nine years. Cecile was also a member of the Cooperative Extension Service and the Danville Grange Hall. She is survived by a step-daughter Ada Mills and her husband Charles of Lisbon, a brother Arthur Caron and his wife Pat of Auburn, four sisters: Theresa Caron of Auburn, Eva Lebel of Auburn, Angelina Gauthier of Poland, Lillianne Latouche of Fredericton, NB; sister in law Rita Caron of Auburn, a step daughter in law Virginia Bishop of Auburn, grandchildren: Jennifer Carmack of Hopewell, VA, Charles Mills of Dallas, TX, Bryan Mills of Lewiston David and John Bishop of Auburn and Tracey Richardson of Auburn; 5 great grand-children and several nieces and nephews. Cecile was predeceased by a stepson Howard Bishop in 2006, four brothers: Philias in 1931, Gerard and 2005, Emile in 2006, and Louis in 2006; and her sister Blanche Morin in 2007. The family would like to thank the staff at CMMC and the Hospice House for the wonderful care they gave to Cecile during her final days. It is greatly appreciated.
