

AUBURN- Edward C. Hodgkin, 88 a lifelong resident of Auburn and an 80 year resident of Taylor Pond died Thursday December 17, at The Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice, with his loving family at his side. He was born in Auburn on February 14, 1927, a son of the late Vinton and Ida (White) Hodgkin. He was educated in local schools and graduated from Edward Little High School class of 1947 and then went on to graduate from Wentworth Institute in Boston in 1950. He proudly served his country as a Merchant Marine in WWII and in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Edward married his true love, the former, Berniece Young on March 11, 1951 in Augusta, Maine. Together they raised their three daughters and owned and operated Hodgkin Inc. for many years. He was a member of The Auburn United Methodist Church. He also was a member of the Maine Society of American Revolution, Maine Society of the Mayflower, American Legion, Tranquil Lodger, Scottish Rights, Knights Templar, Grand Lodge of Maine, Androscoggin Valley Square & Compass, and a lifelong member of the Kora Temple Second Section. Edward loved life, being with people, especially his family and his dogs. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He leaves his wife of almost 65 years Berniece of Auburn, his three daughters: Marcia Hennessey and her husband Tom of Harpswell, Karen Paulsen and her husband Leigh of Manchester, NH and Lynne Sayre and her husband Stuart of Cape Elizabeth, a sister Arline Stowe and husband Roy of MI, his five grandchildren: Amy Bergeron, husband Kevin and their two children Spencer and Shane of Saco, Edward Chervenak and his two children Scarlett and Sebastian of Lewiston and Melissa, Jacob and Elizabeth Paulsen all of Manchester, NH. Visitation Fortin AUBURN Sunday Dec. 20 from 3-6 PM, where a Masonic Service will take place at 4 pm. Funeral will be celebrated on Monday Dec 21, 11 AM at Auburn United Methodist Church 439 Park Ave. Auburn, ME. A private Committal will be held at a later date.
