

Eleanor was born August 29, 1936 in Concord New Hampshire to Dorie C and Beatrice Gelinas Massey. She was educated in the Concord school system. She met and married Gary McLaughlin in 1955 and moved to Harrington Maine. She worked most of her career as a professional bookkeeper.
Many summers you could find Ellie at the races, first cheering on Gary at the Cherryfield raceway, then her son David and later grandson Andrew at Speedway 95, Wiscasset, anywhere a race was held. She was known for her long walks around Harrington walking 3 to 5 miles daily until her 80’s. She enjoyed gardening, and was a member of the local garden club. She was a member of the Ruggles House Society where she enjoyed the camaraderie of their events. She was a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Parish and attended St Michael church in Cherryfield. She will be remembered for her feisty nature and big heart.
Eleanor is survived by her three children and their families: Lisa Elichaa and her husband Joe of Auburn, Dianne Tilton of Auburn, and David McLaughlin and his wife Michelle of Harrington. She is survived by six grandchildren: Kryston (Peterson) Lemay, Troy Peterson, Barrett Tilton, Blake (Tilton) Palan, Eric McLaughlin and Andrew McLaughlin. In addition, she is survived by 11 great grandchildren, her sister Frances Earle of Penacook, New Hampshire and her son Adam, and nephew Wayne Stevens of Manchester, New Hampshire.
Eleanor was predeceased by her parents, her sister Jeanette Stevens, her former husband Gary, and her son-in-law Aaron Tilton.
A funeral will be held in early May, 2026 at St. Michael church on Elm Street in Cherryfield. A reception in Ellie’s honor will be held immediately afterward.
