Eugenie Elise Brown

1938 - 2018

Auburn - Eugenie E. Brown, age 79, died Wednesday morning January 17th at her residence at Schooner Estates. She was born in Rumford June 25, 1938, the only child born to Oilver and Yvonne (Girouard) Duguay. Eugenie was educated in Rumford schools and had been a resident of the Lewiston-Auburn community for most of her life. She was first married to Melvin Nelson and later married Alfred Brown who predeceased her 1996. As a young girl, Eugenie first worked for several years as a waitress at the Rangeley Lake Resort. Upon moving to Lewiston-Auburn at age 16, she attended Mid-State College and later worked for a number of years at local retail stores, including W.T. Grant. She spent her last several years of employment in local shoe manufacturing shops until her retirement.

Among her favorite enjoyments were camping in Rangeley with family and friends, attending auto races at Oxford Plains Speedway, dancing and going for Sunday rides. Eugenie was a loving, devoted and hardworking wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed.

The family wishes to thank the medical professionals and the entire staff at Schooner Estates for the care and compassion shown to Eugenie and her family during her time there.

She leaves behind her son Steve Nelson and wife Diane of Minot; three grandchildren Amanda Nelson, Steve Nelson and wife Carrie, and Nicole Nelson and companion Robert Dinan; Five great-grandchildren Stephen Nelson, Emily Nelson, Lincoln Dinan, Oliver Dinan and Libby Dinan; one brother Bill Giroux of Weymouth, MA and a nephew Ed Giroux and wife Charlene, also of Weymouth, MA.

At her prior request, there will be no services at this time.
