Herta Liese

Herta Liese, 71, of New Gloucester went to be with the Lord on October 30th at CMMC. She was born in Zurich, Switzerland on September 15, 1944 the daughter of Emil and Helene (Jung) Leuthold. She moved to the United States at the age of 14 and graduated high school in Englewood, NJ. She married her husband Wolfgang Liese on June 4, 1966 and together they raised a family of 3 boys, moving to Maine after the first was born. Herta touched everyone's lives. She had an incredible sense of humor, was kind hearted, loving, generous, and would always become friends with anyone that she met. She loved to bake and share her food with everyone, always making enough to hand out to friends and family. She was very involved in her church the Windham Assembly of God giving of her time to help her friends. She loved yard-saling, knitting scarfs, and playing cards with her friends. As a couple, Wolfgang and Herta made several trips to Europe always meeting new people when she traveled. Her latest hobby was crafting, especially card stamping to make her own thank you cards. You could always count on getting a thank you card, even thanking you for a thank you. She remembered the little details and always put others first. She is survived by her husband of 49 years Wolfgang Liese, her 3 boys William of New Gloucester, Eric of Morgantown, WV and Mark and his wife Cheryl Liese of New Gloucester. She was predeceased by her brother Fritz Leuthold and her parents. Visitation will be on Thursday November 5th from 4-7pm at the Fortin Group Funeral Home in Auburn. A funeral service will be celebrated at Windham Assembly of God on Friday November 6th at 4pm, with a gathering immediately following at the church. A committal service will take place on Saturday at Upper New Yard Cemetery in New Gloucester at 11am.
