Jacqueline “Jackie” A. Michaud, 80, of Auburn passed away at her home with her family by her side on May 5th after a short and courageous battle with cancer. Jackie had already battled and conquered cancer in 1996. Born in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, England on February 22, 1935, the daughter of William H. Schofield and Helen Hewson. She graduated high school in 1952, and attended two years of post-secondary school before coming to the United States in 1958. Many knew Jackie as a very strong, intelligent, dedicated, faithful and proper British woman. She worked as a stitcher in the shoe shop, and then became a homemaker raising her children, while working as a secretary and bookkeeper. Prior to her retirement, Jackie worked for the Maine Campground Owners Association, where she always looked forward to planning, organizing and facilitating their 3 day annual conference. Here, she developed many meaningful friendships. Jackie loved to host large gatherings with family and friends. She loved tennis, dancing, and keeping her flower beds in pristine condition. Many didn’t know how beautiful her voice was, as she loved to sing. Jackie was always there for her family supporting them any way she could, especially her grandchildren, which she loved dearly. In her spare time, Jackie would knit hats for the babies for the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital. She also loved knitting sweaters and booties for her grand-babies. Jackie loved her cats Sophie and Sooty, who provided unconditional love and companionship. Jackie is survived by her children Debbie and Russell Spector of CT, Kim and Michael St. Pierre of Mechanic Falls, Paul A. Michaud Sr. of Lewiston, and Wendy Mends of Australia; 7 grandchildren Jessica Rubashkin, Joshua Spector, Leah Yazmer, Paul Michaud Jr., Craig Michaud, Seth Spector, and Samantha St. Pierre; 5 great grandchildren Ellie Rubashkin, Hayden Yazmer, Mitchell Yazmer, Michael Rubashkin, and Jonathan Spector; and a niece Georgina Sankey of England. She was predeceased by her parents and a sister, Sheila Carroll. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Androscoggin Home Health and Hospice Care, 15 Strawberry Ave, Lewiston, ME 04240.
