

Auburn- James "Jim" H. Degen Sr. 67 of Poland died Monday June 26, 2011 at The Hospice House in Auburn. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on August 30, 1943 to the late Henry P. Degen Sr. and Jessie E. (Young) Degen. Jim was educated in NY and as soon as he was old enough he proudly served his country in The US Air Force. Jim married the former Patricia "Pat" A. Quinn on December 19, 1969. He worked for many years as a welder for The Iron Workers Union. Jim was a member of The American Legion Post 153, and for a term served as post Historian. He spent time building models, playing cribbage and going for motor cycle rides with his wife Pat. Jim was known as a jack of all trades holding certificates in Carpentry, Welding, Meatcutting, and Class 1 Truck Driver. He leaves his loving wife of 41 years Pat Degen of Poland, eight children: Christopher Degen, James Degen, Kevin Degen, Scott Degen, Billie Curtis, Edgar Degen, Christina Degen and Henry Degen III, a Sister Anna Starbird of Fl, four brothers: William Degen of NJ, Barnett Degen of Gardiner, John Degen of Spain and Henry Degen Jr. of Pittston, 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
