

Janette T. Woodard, 95, of Auburn passed away on Tuesday, September 18, at Clover Health Care. Formally of Grandview Avenue and Schooner Estates, Janette was born in Auburn on June 19, 1917, the daughter of the late Eben and Mellie Davis Talcott. She was married to the late Harry “Bud” Woodard, Jr. on August 14, 1942 in Casco. A graduate of Edward Little High School, class of 1934, Janette was employed by Hall and Knight Hardware, also Maine and New Hampshire theaters, Casco Bank, Roak’s Florist and the Board of Voter Registration (City of Auburn). Later in life she, along with her husband, established Woodard Associates, managing public housing in Auburn. She was a member of the High Street Congregational Church, a Corporator of Central Maine Medical Center and past President of Auburn Little League Auxiliary and the Lewiston & Auburn Kiwaniannes. Janette was a wonderful mother and enjoyed the special times with her family and close friends. She was an accomplished knitter, making numerous items for her family and especially for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, also donating many items to various charities. She loved her pet cats and enjoyed her extensive cat collection, her flower gardens and her yard sales. She spent many good times playing cards, doing jigsaw puzzles, crafts and traveling. She took great pride in remaining active on committees planning the ELHS Class of ’34 reunions over the years. Janette is survived by her son, Brian and his wife Susan of Kingston, N.Y., two grandsons, Thomas and his wife Amy of Somerset, N.J., Jeffrey and his wife Jessica of Frisco, TX and two great-grandchildren Jack and Elizabeth of Somerset, N.J. In addition to her husband of 68 years, she was also predeceased by her son Stephen. Janette’s family would like to thank the staff of Clover Health Care (Dublin Place) and Androscoggin Home Health and Hospice. They are most appreciative that Janette was taken care of by such professional, caring and wonderful people. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service Saturday at 12:00 PM at Mount Auburn Cemetery, Summer Street entrance, Auburn, Maine.
