

Jeannette Marie St. Amand, 87, of Sabattus, Maine, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born on May 23, 1938, in Fort Kent, the daughter of Fortunat Bourgoin and Clarisse Hébert.
Jeannette was a devoted homemaker and the proud mother of eleven children. She found her greatest joy in caring for her family and creating a warm, welcoming home. She loved the simple pleasures of life in Maine—camping and fishing in Eustis, and picking wild blueberries that she turned into delicious pies and cakes. She was well known for her homemade spaghetti and fudge, always made with love and shared generously.
Over the years, Jeannette worked as a hostess at Bert’s Restaurant, a seasonal worker at Chicks Apple Orchard, and at Marshwood Nursing Home. In every role, she was known for her kindness, dedication, and friendly nature.
Jeannette gave generously of her time. Alongside Roland, she helped organize and serve many bean suppers for the Knights of Columbus. She also volunteered her time cooking meals for visiting priests, always happy to serve others.
Her home was the heart of her family. She treasured Sunday gatherings, where her cooking brought everyone together, and she loved playing cards—especially Skip-Bo—creating countless cherished memories with family and friends.
Jeannette will be remembered for her loving heart, generosity, and deep devotion to her family. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, tradition, and togetherness that will carry on through all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by nine children: Janice (Jim) Wright, Gail Bauer, Donna (Kevin) Woodbury, Jim (Mary) St. Amand, Tina Grant, Sally (Dave) Masselli, Lisa (Gary) St. Pierre, Brenda St. Amand, and Tammy (Adam) Thatcher; 30 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her sisters Marie Lebrun of Lewiston and Sylvia Tancrel of New Hampshire, and her brother Roger Bourgoin.
She was predeceased by Roland St. Amand Sr.; her son, Roland St. Amand Jr.; her daughter, Janet Wheeler; sons-in-law Lyle Wheeler and Denzel Grant; grandson, Brian Woodbury; her brother Dan Bourgoin; and her sisters Anita Libby, Diane Bean, and Linda Bourgoin.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, April 18, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., immediately followed by a Celebration of Life and reception at The Fortin Group Funeral Home, Turner Street, Auburn, Maine.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
