Julien Ovila LeBlanc Jr.

Auburn - Julien Ovila “Butch” LeBlanc passed away peacefully on December 29, 2025 with his family by his side after a long illness. He was born in Lewiston, Maine on January 23, 1943 to Julien “Chick” and Muriel Saucier LeBlanc.

He was proud of his Franco heritage, and many of his childhood friends at Saint Peter’s School and Lewiston High School remained close friends throughout his life. He carried on his father’s passion for hockey and grew up on the ponds and rinks with a stick in his hands, playing for local area teams. After a post-grad year at Kents Hill School, he proudly attended Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont before joining his family’s business LeBlanc’s Cleaners.

On August 14, 1965, he married Sylvia Grenier, and soon after, they moved to Shepley Street in Auburn where they raised their four children and created a warm and welcoming home. Many summer days were spent at their family camp on Woodbury Pond in the Tacoma Lakes, water skiing and swimming and enjoying one of the best outdoor spots in Maine. He continued his athletic pursuits, completing two marathons the year before he turned forty and golfing well into his later years. But Butch’s favorite pastime was attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. “Boppy” was a fixture on the sidelines of hockey, field hockey, lacrosse, softball, skiing and track events, from little league to travel to high school and college games, often in his signature crewneck sweatshirt representing one of the grandkids’ colleges. He was so proud of their accomplishments.

Julien was pre-deceased by his wife Sylvia, his parents, and his brother Ronald. Carrying on his legacy are his sister Jeanne Read and her husband Richard; brother Michel and his wife Lori; his children David, wife Beth and sons Joseph and Thomas; AnneMarie and Ryan Wilson and children Timothy and Alexa Millett, Katherine and Adam Fox and their son Greyson, and Connor Millett; Stephen and daughter Anna; Brian, wife Laurie Campbell and daughters Chloe and Jillian.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his name to Beacon Hospice will be gratefully accepted. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Beacon Hospice and Clover Health Care. Their support and care gave immeasurable comfort.
