She married Ernest LaCouture Jr on April 25, 1953 and lived most of her life in the Auburn and Lewiston area, spending a few years in New Bedford MA. She was employed at Knapp Shoe company for many years as a shoe stitcher.
After her family had grown up and moved out, she decided to follow her passion which involved sewing, quilting, and teaching her craft to others. She participated in a quilt group for over 20 years and enjoyed travelling to workshops with her quilt group to refine her skills. She loved her grandchildren and created beautiful quilts as keepsakes for many of them. She shared her sewing talents while living at St Mary’s Residence for about 10 years, leaving behind many wall hangings and table runners to be enjoyed by others for years to come. She also loved playing Bingo, as well as gardening and watching the birds.
Lorraine was preceded by her husband’s death after 47 years of marriage.
