Born April 6, 1938, the daughter of Abraham and Doris (Brochu) Sabelman, she was a life-long resident of Lewiston-Auburn and a graduate of Edward Little High School in Auburn and the Maine School of Practical Nursing in Waterville.
On November 16, 1963, Nancy married Richard "Dick" Roy of Lewiston. They resided in Auburn where they raised their two daughters. The family was active in the Maine Obsolete Auto League and has many fond memories of the car swaps & meets, parades and friendships. They were also a founding family of St. Philip's Church in Auburn, just up the street from her home of 50 years on Turner Road.
Sharing her great sense of humor and adventure, Nancy loved spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed putting in a good movie, doing the daily crossword puzzle and taking road trips (near and far). Nancy loved being on the water and never turned down the chance to go to the ocean, take a ferry ride or to go on the mail boat runs on Casco Bay and Lake Winnipesaukee. She loved puzzles, card games, board games and bingo and shared these joys with her daughters. Nancy was a member of Robin Dow and First Auburn Seniors and enjoyed many activities and trips with fellow members.
She is survived by her daughters Rhonda Roy Gioia and her husband Tom of Owls Head, ME and Linda Roy of Meredith, NH and South Thomaston, ME. She was predeceased by her parents and her husband of 30 years, Richard Roy.
The family would like to thank her caregivers at Central Maine Medical Center and Andwell Hospice House for the loving and skilled care she received.
At Nancy's request, the ceremony and burial at St. Peter's Cemetery in Lewiston will be private.
