He was born in Lewiston on May 9, 1942, son of the late John Murphy & the late Frances Sampson Paradis. Educated in Lewiston schools, he graduated from the lauded LHS Class of 1960 where he was a member of the varsity baseball team and band member playing the clarinet & saxophone. Pat was voted Best Musician by his classmates.
After serving four years in the US Navy, he was honorably discharged and went on to earn a B.A. in Business Administration from USM. Pat worked as an Insurance Adjuster for over 30 years at Mid-State and Colonial Adjustment.
Pat was an avid reader, with his latest choice of fiction or nonfiction by his recliner at all times. A lifelong sports enthusiast, he enjoyed rooting for all the New England teams, Navy and Notre Dame, noting that he couldn’t lose when the Fighting Irish and Navy played each other. With his long-time friend Jim Fennessy, he coached baseball for many years at LJHS and Elliot Little League and led teams to the New England Championships and Northeast Regionals.
Pat was an integral member of the Thomas E. Lahey Foundation from its inception. He reveled in the golf and bowling tournaments while raising funds to honor his friend, Tommy. Golf was another cherished pastime and he spent countless weekends enjoying Springbrook Golf Club with his many buddies; he also participated in fiercely competitive family-run tournaments. His philosophical discourse will surely be missed down at the Blue Goose.
He was loved and appreciated wherever he went; Pat’s quiet wit and gentle nature will live forever in those who knew and loved him. “Uncle Pat” will be missed greatly by many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was predeceased by stepfather Merle Paradis; brothers Ronald and Gregory Paradis; brother-in-law Ron Dufour; daughter-in-law Juli Chicoine.
Along with his wife, Anita, he is survived by his adored daughter Casey and her mother, Liz; siblings: Pam Dyer and husband John of Yarmouth, Pennie Dufour and Rand Paradis, both of Lewiston; stepchildren: Dr. Ronald Chicoine and wife Lynne of Brunswick, Wendy Poutre and husband Tim of N.H. and Jeff Chicoine and fiancee Liz Decker of Topsham; grandchildren: Calvin (Meaghan), Elliot (Angelynn), and Forrest Chicoine; Alex (Meghan), Ben (Kenzie) and Molly Chicoine; Chase (Christina) Poutre and Griffin Poutre; great grandchildren: Patrick, Adelyn, Eloise, Easton, William and newborn Mallory Jo.
