

PFC Smith was born in Portland, ME on October 3, 1988 to Linda (Stimson) Larrivee and Daniel Smith. Barry was a graduate of Littleton High School, although he did attend one year at Edward Little High School. After graduating from high school, Barry attended Hesser College in Manchester, NH and graduated with his Associates Degree in Criminal Justice. Barry later enlisted in the United States Army in October of 2009 and attended Basic Training at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. After Basics Barry attended MLRS (Multiple Launch Rocket System) training at Fort Sills, OK. PFC Smith was eventually assigned to Fort Hood, TX in the 2nd Battalion, 20th Field Artillery (MLRS) 41st Fires Brigade.
Barry possessed a larger than life personality and touched everyone he met. He had an abundance of friends and drew people to him like a moth to a flame with his easy smile, infectious laugh and kind heart. Everyone who knew him loved him. Barry loved the outdoors, hunting and camping with family and friends. He was always up for an adventure and managed to make every adventure exciting. He had a crazy love for cars and trucks, truly anything with a motor. More than anything else, PFC Smith was PROUD to serve our country in the United States Army. He will always be cherished, loved and be deeply missed.
Survivors include his parents: Dan and Shelly Smith of Auburn, ME.and Linda and Jonathan Larrivee of Littleton, NH; siblings include: Jordan and Miranda Casey of Auburn, ME., Kyle Kirk and Garrett Grant of Littleton, Amanda Larrivee of Lisbon, NH, Eric Larrivee and his fiance Amanda Stickney of Lancaster, NH., Maternal Grandparents are Nina and David Stimson of Mechanic Falls, ME, and Marie Perry of Littleton, NH. Paternal Grandparents are Robert and Jane Smith of Poland, ME, Tim and Diann Murphy of Grayling, MI and John Neeley of Munith, MI. Barry is also survived by numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.

Funeral Services will be held at the Fortin Funeral Home in Auburn on Turner Street at 11:00 Monday, May 17th followed by a burial service at Gracelawn Memorial Park. A visitation session will also be held on Sunday, May 16th from 5:00-8:00 at the funeral home.
