

He was born in Lewiston on May 9th, 1932, a son to Ovide and Sadie Charest. He was an only child.
He married to Doris Bouchard on January 21, 1956.
Richard attended Lewiston High School and spent two years at Assumption College.
During his career, he was employed in sales at Oakhurst Dairy and served as a translator in the Army.
He spent time in Auburn, Poland and Falmouth for the last 6 years.
Richard was an accomplished painter, loved to be by the ocean, spent many vacations at Bailey’s Island, and loved the Red Sox and the Patriots, always watching with his wife. He liked camping and went camping well into his 70s. Richard was very devoted to his faith and his parish, serving as a sacristan, Eucharistic Minister, and for many years brought Communion to the sick.
Predeceased by his parents and his daughter Monique Marchessault.
Richard is survived by his wife of 69 years, Doris Charest or Norway, Maine, his daughter Suzanne Carrier and her husband Vincent Carrier, his son Richard Charest, Jr. and his wife Judy, his son Mark Charest and his wife Meredith. He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Vanessa Simmons, Richard Charest III, Mariah Charest (Richard and Judy), Meghan Charest and Emily Charest (Mark and Meredith).
A Mass of Christian Burial at St. Catherine of Siena in Norway, Maine will be held on Monday, February 3 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Edward Clifford Celebrant.
Interment will take place at St. Peter’s Cemetery Lewiston, Maine.
There will be no visitation or reception.
