1954-2022
Ronald J. Alward, 68, of Lewiston passed away October 11, 2022 at the Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn following a courageous battle with lung cancer.
He was born August 31, 1954 in Boston the son of Phil Cena and Louise M. DiMaggio.
Ronnie, regardless of his circumstance, was truly a happy, humble, positive, generous, self giving, grateful and loving person his entire life. Ronnie’s faith in God accompanied him through life. He absolutely loved going to church on Sunday. Ronnie was a role model to all and a gift to many.
Ronnie loved math, and through that love he won an award from Northeastern University at 15 years of age. In his early twenties he served in the United States Army for a short period of time. Ronnie had several passions, his undying love of Elvis Presley; and his role as Santa Claus at Christmas. Ronnie loved playing sports when he was younger. He played baseball and was an incredible pitcher as well as street hockey. Ronnie also loved watching sports, the Red Sox were his favorite team but he enjoyed watching all the New England Teams. Ronnie adored his family, especially his mom. We, his family, are so grateful to our brother/uncle who was such an important part of all of our lives. We all admire the warm, funny, and genuine person that he was. Our lives will forever be better because he was a part of them and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Ronnie was predeceased by his his Mother Louise M. DiMaggio.
He is survived by his four sisters, Darlene Alward, Domenica Rivera, Jonnie Rose Clark (husband Mark Clark), Letteria DiMaggio; his brother Richard DiMaggio (wife Stephanie DiMaggio), his God child and niece Stephanie Louise DiMaggio, along with many nieces and nephews.
A special thanks to all that cared for Ronnie and the staff at Montello Manor, most especially his doctor, Dr. Nicole Boutaugh, nurse Brittany and his CNAs Mercedes and Melissa.
