Alvie moved to Lamont, California in 1941 and worked at Lamont Lumber Co. until joining the Navy in 1945. He was later drafted into the Army in 1950 during the Korean War, where he served our country with honor, stationed in Okinawa, Japan, with the rank of Sergeant. After his honorary discharge in 1952, he returned to work at Lamont Lumber Co. and continued his career in the building and lumber industry until retiring from Aaron's Home Center in 1992.
Alvie was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Pearl, and his son, Gary, as well as his five siblings, Gladys, Hazel, Emmitt, Mosell, and Dean. He is survived by his loving wife, Faye, and his children and their spouses, Karen and Mike Harris, Rick and Maria Lawhorn, Don Lawhorn, and daughter-in-law Debbie Lawhorn. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Stephen and Lacie Harris; Chad Harris; Jessica and Jennifer Lawhorn; Edgar and Andy Cordova; and great-grandchildren, Paisley and Ethan Harris.
Services will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary on Saturday, March 1, at 2:00 PM. Celebration of life to immediately follow.
