

Angela was born in Okinawa, Japan on December 23, 1976. She was a 1995 graduate of Foothill High School and had been employed by the Kern County Sheriff's Office for 10-years in the Records Section. She passed away on July 17, 2011 at Cedar Sinai hospital in Los Angeles, following complications from her third heart transplant. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Howard Lee and Chlora (Brannan) Schafer, and her maternal grandfather Gilbert P. Clark. She leaves behind a large family. Her parents, Mike Schafer of Tulip, Missouri, and Debbie (Clark) Schafer of Bakersfield; her brother Chris of Bakersfield; stepmother Sharon Schafer of Missouri; stepfather James Thomas of Bakersfield; sister-in-law Mimi Hernandez; two step brothers: Robert Thomas and wife Erica, Justin Thomas and Crystal Herrera; three step sisters: Wendi Dummar and husband Josh of Porterville; Keri Ferguson and husband Lee of Leeds, England; and Kelly McNabb; her maternal grandmother Grace (Howell) Bryson and husband "Sonny", and many aunts, uncles, and cousins, whom she loved dearly. The love of her life was her family. Especially her nieces and newphews; Bryce, Jordan, and Caleb Schafer; Drake, Macy, and Marissa Thomas; Emily and Samantha Dumar; and Zane McNabb; as well as her beloved basset hounds, Emma and Rufus. Her love of children extended beyond family. She was a special 'auntie' to Johnny, Madison, and Noah Johnson; children of child hood friends Mindy and Johnny Johnson. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Make A Wish Foundation (http://wish.org), The Victory Junction Gang Camp (http://victoryjunction.org), the Kern County Sheriff's Activities League (http://kcsal.com) or any children's charity of your choice. A memorial service will be held at the Hillcrest Memorial Park, 9101 Kern Canyon Road on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at 2:00 p.m.
