It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Arcy Jeanette Eggleston, on March 21, 2026, at the age of 70. She was born on June 27, 1955, in Bakersfield, CA, where her family has a long history as some of the early pioneers in Kern County.
After growing up in Bakersfield, she adventured off as a truck driver and courier. She traveled throughout the south and southwest, exploring the desert and collecting her cherished turquoise jewelry and magnets along the way. In good time, she made her way home to Bakersfield and settled with her growing family.
She found joy in books, country music, watching westerns and mysteries, and exploring crafts of every kind . Often you could hear her playing music, including some Bakersfield natives dear to her heart from Buck Owens and Merle Haggard. She enjoyed watching shows with mystery and suspense like CSI, and lighter comedies to make her laugh like Monk, though she was always up for classic westerns with Clint Eastwood and John Wayne.
From a young age, she was adept at arts and crafts of all kinds. Often you could see the brightly colored round Tri-Cem holders alongside a new pattern. Latch hook rugs decorated rooms and plastic canvas creations adorned surfaces. Most admirable were her stained glass pieces with bright, beautiful colors.
She is survived by her parents Darrell and Frances Burruss, brother Evan Greer and wife Cindy, and her four children Trina Eggleston McCabe and husband Cody, Dayleen Eggleston, Dujeau Eggleston and wife Sarah, and Tonya Hammond. Also, many beloved grandchildren Justin McAfee, Michelle Hammond, Shane Hammond, Chasidy Sotello, Zevin Eggleston, and Michael McCabe, great grandchildren, and extended family, including her aunt Joan Hart and great aunt Arcy Armistead - all of whom she loved dearly.
A visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Hillcrest, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306, US, on April 10, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
