Arline Pratt was born in Southern California, April 26, 1924. The loss of her father at age three made her early life difficult but she often spoke of how close and loving her mother, brothers, Robert and Arthur and sister Elisabeth became after his death.
She attended local schools and studied business which enabled her to become employed as a bookkeeper for Alex Robertson of Long Beach. She eventually moved to Bakersfield to take a job with the newly formed Alex Robertson of Bakersfield, also known as ARB Inc., where she met her future husband Arthur Pratt. Their union produced two sons; Gregory and Geoffrey Pratt. During their 50 plus years they enjoyed many camping and fishing trips together as a family. Her two boys always spoke with amazement at their mothers’ baking skills while camping outside in a tent.
She was a tireless volunteer for over 55 years with The Community House of Bakersfield, sewing many projects for their Christmas Bazaar as well as a devout member of The First United Methodist Church of Bakersfield.
