Bert Victor Brewer

Bert Victor Brewer 1916 - 2009 Bert V. Brewer, age 93, went home to his Lord Jesus on Friday, December 4, 2009 in Bakersfield, California at the home of his devoted daughter, Velma Wallace and son-in-law Gary Wallace. He was born on October 1, 1916 in Hartford, Arkansas to Ida and Hewitt Brewer. At age eighteen, he married the love of his life Osia Mae Moffatt. They had three children. Eventually, in the early 40's, he moved to Bakersfield, CA where he became a successful building contractor. He remained a long-time member of the Masonic Lodge. Bert was a devoted Christian and faithfully taught his children to love, trust, and serve God, our Heavenly Father. His favorite activities encompass fishing, hunting, camping and traveling in his RV. He loved playing his guitar, banjo, mandolin and his harmonica at church, senior halls, and family events. Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Osia Mae Moffatt Brewer; he is survived by his son, Douglas Brewer and wife Pam; his daughter, Velma Wallace and husband Gary Wallace; his son, Simeon Brewer and wife Donna, all residing in Bakersfield. Bert and Osia leave behind eight grandchildren, Ray Brewer, Sherry Summers, Robert Brewer, Paul Wallace, Karen Stampes, and Annette Dodson, Tim and Cindy Brewer and fourteen great grandchildren. Bert also leaves behind his wife, Wanda Austin Brewer who said that she will miss his hugs and devotion. His humor, unconditional love, child-like faith, wisdom to manage financial matters, independent nature, and love for life will be remembered and missed. A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 9, at 11:00 a.m., at Hillcrest Memorial Chapel. A visitation will also be held on Tuesday, Dec. 8, from 4-8 p.m., at Hillcrest Mortuary. Hillcrest Mortuary under the direction of Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary, Bakersfield, CA.
