

on July 4th, 2016 after a 6-year battle with Alzheimer's and
Dementia. Bill was born the son of a share cropper in Hollis,
Arkansas on September 10th, 1927. Bill grew up working in
the cotton fields and quickly learned the value of hard work.
His family moved to Richmond, CA in 1942. Too young to
serve, he assisted America in WWII in the shipyards. In
1944, Bill met Dorothy Hall and they eloped to Reno on
October 31, 1944. They settled in the Bay area where they
had two sons, Ron and David. In 1953 Bill and Dorothy
moved to Bakersfield, and later daughter Denise was born.
Bill worked with Lucky Stores, Best Foods, Carnation, and
finally JACO Oil Company from 1971 until his retirement in
1994. His retirement was filled with weekly lunches with
friends, weekly golf rounds, and travel with church groups
and his beloved wife, and being the best Grandpa attending
every sporting and school event for his young grandkids.
Bill and Dorothy were members of Stine Road Baptist Church
and finally Valley Baptist Church, where Bill attended weekly
health permitting. He loved God, his country, his sweetheart
Dorothy, his family, his church, golf, and politics.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents Willie and Vera and
Brother-in-law Travis. Bill is survived by his wife of 71 years
Dorothy, brother Ken Hill and wife Joan, Sister-in -law Peggy,
Children Ron (Charlotte), David, and Denise Wigley Keiffer (Ken),
Grandchildren Craig Hill (Jennifer) Annette Hill,
Ben Hill (Jamie) Adam Hill, Allison Hill, Ryan Wigley,
Kyle Wigley (Shelly), and Kaylea Hayslett (Garrett),
8 great-grandchildren, Treavor, Joshua, Tyler, Nathan,
Lexi, Tyson, Ben Jr. and Houston, several nieces,
nephews, and cousins.
