He was born in Mangham Louisiana to Gracie Mae Weston Nobles and Walter Ervin Nobles. He was the youngest of two children. His sister Marjorie passed in 1999. He was brought up in a Christian household and taught at an early age to love the Lord. He attended LSU and Louisiana Seminary. He was a bi-vocational pastor working in electrical construction since 1969 and also a member of IBEW. His construction took him to Indiana in 1971 where he met his wife, Ellyn. They spent the next 36 years in happiness. In 1985 he was transferred to Bakersfield where he took over leadership of the First Southern Baptist of Mettler in October of 1986 where he still ministered until his death a total of almost 24 years. There were a total of 5 children that blessed this marriage: Jacquelynne ( Mrs Willie) Hardin of KY, John Nobles of TX, Keith Nobles and his wife Beatrice of VA (NAVY), Walter Nobles and his wife Jennifer of Bakersfield, and Katherine Nobles of Bakersfield. He was Papaw to 8 wonderful grandchildren: Crystal Gillingham, Shari Newman and Teddy Newman-- Julie Dowell Evans, Roman and Hunter Nobles--Austin Davis and Elisabeth Nobles. There are also 6 great grandchildren. He loved to spend time with his family. He was the one that always went to find out what was wrong and how to fix it. He loved to fish, hunt, and vacation with family. He was a gentle man and kindhearted but could take a firm hand in love if needed. He retired at the age of 70 and 3 months later went to LA to bring his mother to live with us taking on much of her daily care his self. He continued for the next 5 years until she passed away at the age of 100 last year. He was always generous with his time and energy. Willing to help a friend as well as family. And he is so very proud of each of his children. In lieu of flowers there is a memorial fund @ KSFCU in his name. Go rest high on that mountain Bob, we love you. Services have been held.
