He was born on March 1, 1946, in Elk City, Oklahoma and later moved to Bakersfield, CA with his family as a young boy. He attended Foothill High School and graduated in 1964. Bryan joined the U.S Air Force in December 1965, he was honorably released in May of 1969.
After his time in the military, he pursued higher education, attending Bakersfield College and CSUB obtaining his bachelor’s degree; and later receiving his Master of Marriage and Family Therapy (MMFT) degree from Phillips Graduate Institute where he found his calling in guiding and supporting individuals and families through life’s challenges.
Outside of his professional life, Bryan loved being outdoors. He enjoyed camping, visiting the beach, and spending time with his friends and family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Grace Garza-Bingham, his stepdaughter, Diana (Nick) Kott, stepson, Victor (Michelle) Garza, grandsons, Jonathan Kott, Alexander Kott, Jesse Garza and Lynzy Riley and his nephews, Jim and Mike Shelton
He was predeceased by his parents, Elijah “Bing” and Bonnie Lee and his sister Trudi Shelton.
Though Bryan will be deeply missed, his legacy of love, service, and compassion will live on in all who were fortunate to know him.
