Darlene was born to Paul and Margaret Zerby in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania. As a young mother she moved around quite a bit living in Pennsylvania, California, Oklahoma, Nevada, and Florida, before finally calling Bakersfield, California home in 1979.
Darlene was a member of Coronado Baptist Church where she enjoyed the preaching of Pastor Jack Lee Jr. and serving with her congregation. She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren, enjoyed scrapbooking, and was the biggest Elvis fan.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, and sister Patsy Akins.
She is survived by her daughter Margaret “Peggy” Holder (husband Michael), her grandchildren, Laurie Pipkin (husband Robert), Jennifer Crawford, Valerie Clark (husband David), and great grandchildren, Steven, Kami (husband Jonathan), Kellie, Robby, and Cooper.

A viewing will be held on Monday, October 16, 2023 from 4-8PM at Hillcrest
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 2:00PM at Coronado Baptist Church 516 Norris Rd.
