A graduate of California State University, Fresno, with a master’s degree in geology, most of Dave’s career was spent with the California State Department of Oil and Gas. Known for his industry expertise, his work ranged from being transported by helicopters onto oil platforms in the Pacific Ocean, to working on several major projects in the Bakersfield area.
Dave married Jean Davis, the love of his life, on November 3, 1990. Living life to its fullest, they traveled the world and savored foreign cultures and people. Family was always important to Dave, highlighted by his cherished role of stepfather to Jean’s six adult children and their families, and proud uncle to nieces, a nephew, and their families.
Dave will always be remembered as a warrior who never gave up, one who did not allow limitations to define who he was. The celebration of his 70th birthday was a milestone appreciated by all who loved him.
Dave is survived by his brother Ken (Lillian), sister Deanne (Rod); stepchildren Alfred Davis (Seane), Janet Brannagan (Rege), Dennis Davis (Kerry), Ronald Davis (Barbara), Clifford Davis, Joni Becker (Gary); niece Ashley Lovie and daughter Lila McMahon; niece Nicole Ross (Daniel), nephew Nathan Pettus (Holly Kapella), niece Natalie Pettus (Chris Csanadi) and children Chance and Camilla; niece Naomi Shumate (Tyler); step-grandchildren Kelly Gilbertson, Teri Riley, Chad Davis, Michael Brannagan, Erin Brannagan, Matthew Brannagan, Dena Espinoza, Jason Davis, Jessica Davis, Ryan Powers, Brandon Becker, Rachel Becker, Mitchell Becker; and multiple step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents Nadine and Richard Clark, wife Jean, and step-grandson Leland Davis.
Dave and Jean were generous with their love and support of family, friends, and organizations that provide needed community services. In lieu of flowers, donations to the donor’s favorite charity are requested.
A Celebration of Life will be held April 30th. More information will be provided at a later date.
