

Dominick was born on October 25, 1946, in the town of Stefanaconi in Calabria, Italy, to Filippo (Philip) and Anna Di Betta. He was the youngest of five children. In April of 1957 when he was 10 years of age, his parents immigrated the family to the United States and settled permanently in Raritan, New Jersey. Dominick graduated from Bridgewater Raritan West High School in Raritan, New Jersey.
After graduating from high school, Dominick proudly became an American citizen in 1966 after which he entered the United States Air Force on July 1 that same year. He served both domestically and overseas and was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant in January of 1970. He then became a reservist until June of 1972. Dominick was released from active duty in Sacramento, CA, where he continued to reside during his time as a reservist. Not long afterward, he relocated to Bakersfield, CA which became his permanent place of residence.
Dominick was a health and fitness enthusiast all his life. After the military, he enjoyed a long career in management in the fitness industry, most notably for Jack LaLanne European Health Spas. Dominick was also an avid, competitive bodybuilder during his career including competing at the national level. Eventually, Dominick opened his own health clubs in Bakersfield, American Health and Fitness and Dominick’s Fitness Connection.
Dominick was a loving father, grandfather and brother. He loved to listen to the lively Calabrian traditional folk music called the Tarantella. This music was enjoyed during festivals, weddings and various social occasions in Calabria. He enjoyed playing the guitar, making wine, curing olives and visiting family and friends in Idaho, New Jersey and Italy.
Dominick loved to be busy so after retirement he became a security officer for a private security company. He also continued to enjoy weightlifting, cooking and eating his favorite Italian dishes, maintaining his home garden and raising chickens.
Dominick was preceded in death by his parents Filippo and Anna who were married for 63 years, his brothers Francesco (Frank) and wife Teresa and Nicola (Nick) and wife Anna and his sister Annunziata (Nancy) Natale and husband Mike all of Raritan, New Jersey.
Dominick is survived by his children Andrew Di Betta and wife Faith of Caldwell, Idaho, Nancy Di Betta of Bakersfield, his grandchildren Kimberly Di Betta (Andrew and Faith) and Jordan Diaz (Nancy), his sister Catherine Viscariello and husband Angelo of Raritan, New Jersey, 14 nieces and nephews and his wife Susan who immigrated from the Philippines to become his wife in 2019.
Visitation will be on March 12, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA. A funeral Mass will be held on March 13, 2025, at 10:00 a.m.at Our Lady of Perpetual Help at 124 Columbus Street, Bakersfield, CA, followed by burial at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
