1963 - 2018
Elizabeth Antoinette Schmidt, born Elizabeth Antoinette MacMurphy on April 4, 1963, passed away June 23, 2018. She was a beloved wife, mother, Nana, sister, step-mother, mother-in-law, daughter-in-law, sister-in-law, friend and co-worker. She spread love and positivity to everyone who was lucky enough to be apart of her life.
Elizabeth was born in Van Nuys, Ca and spent most of her childhood moving up and down California’s central coast before settling in Bakersfield, Ca in her 7th grade of school. She attended Garces Memorial High School for her Freshman year and finished the last three years of high school at North High graduating in 1981. In 1982, while working for the same company, Elizabeth met her future husband Timothy Schmidt. They wed in 1984 where Elizabeth then became a step-mother to Timothy’s first born daughter, April. Together they had 3 sons: Zachary, Jeffery and Benjamin. Elizabeth always put family first and was a dedicated mother which helped her get through the trials and tribulations one might encounter with three boys in the household. She enjoyed family trips to the lake where she would water-ski and teach her children how to kneeboard. She enjoyed camping in the mountains and desert where she road off highway vehicles. There was not one roller coaster she was afraid to ride. She even went zip lining in Catalina for her 50th birthday.
Along with being a mother, wife and thrill seeker, she became a school bus driver for the Fruitvale School District. Not long after driving a school bus route, Elizabeth began creating them as she was promoted to secretary of Maintenance, Operations and Transportation for the Fruitvale School District. Her 23 year career with Fruitvale was abruptly ended with her passing and she will be missed dearly and impossible to replace. She brought a contagious smile and a positive attitude to work all the while going above and beyond her job duties.
Elizabeth first became Nana when April had her first son, Hunter. Followed by her second son, Noah. Zachary followed suit with his son Hayden and daughter Mila. Jeffery then added Elizabeth’s fifth grandchild Harper followed by a sixth with Benjamin’s son Lucas. Like any other time in her life, Elizabeth put family first and became the best grandmother, or Nana, a child could have. She was always there when needed and absolutely selfless when it came to her grandchildren.
Elizabeth Antoinette Schmidt preceded in death by her parents Brenda and Ray Clack. Elizabeth is survived by her husband Timothy Schmidt, step-daughter April Beall, son Zachary Schmidt, son Jeffery Schmidt, son Benjamin Schmidt, sister Teresa Boyd, brother-in-law George Boyd, mother-in-law Eleanor Schmidt, brother-in-law Terry Schmidt, sister-in-law Lisa McWhorter, grandson Hunter Beall, grandson Noah Beall, grandson Hayden Schmidt, granddaughter Mila Schmidt, granddaughter Harper Schmidt, grandson Lucas Schmidt, nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins and friends.
