January 25, 1932 - January 01, 2021
Faye was born to Benson (Doc) and Lucy Newton in Eufaula, Oklahoma. She passed away at home with her loving family by her side.
Faye moved to Lamont as a small child when her family chose California as their new home. She graduated from Bakersfield High School in 1950 and shortly afterwards she married Alvie Lawhorn, a love that lasted 64 years. In her professional life, she focused the majority of her career in banking and was always well-loved and respected by all those who knew her. She enjoyed painting and became quite the artist. Faye's greatest love though was her family, to which she was forever devoted. She lived the majority of her life in Lamont, where she and Alvie retired together. After Alvie's death she moved to Bakersfield, California and enjoyed the company and close friendship of wonderful neighbors, especially Linda Embry, to whom we will be forever grateful.
Faye was preceded in death by her husband, Alvie; son, Gary; son- in- law, Mike Harris; parents, Doc and Lucy Newton; her siblings, Kenneth Newton, Martin Newton and Louise Pilgrim. She is survived by her sisters, Lela Skaggs and Joann Maytubby; her children, Karen Harris, Rick and his wife, Maria Lawhorn, Don Lawhorn, and daughter-in-law, Debbie Lawhorn Delfraisse. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, of whom she was so proud, Stephen and Lacie Harris; Chad and Chelsey Harris; Jessica Lawhorn; Jennifer and Brandon Jett; Edgar Cordova; Andy and Halie Cordova; and great-grandchildren Paisley, Ethan, Layla and Hudson Harris.
Viewing will be held Friday, January 29th between 9-11 AM with services immediately following at 11:00 AM at Hillcrest Mortuary. No reception to follow.
