Gary Keith Hinds

Gary attended Standard and North High Schools and then earned his CPA degree from Cal State Bakersfield. He worked in the oil industry the first half of his career and then with the Kern County Tax Assessors Office the last twenty years of his career before retiring.

Gary married Patricia J. Lewis on May 23, 1970 until her passing on October 23, 1997. Later, he married Diwanna Berry on July 10, 2004.

In the words of his children, "Our dad Gary Hinds was called home by the Lord today July 8, 2021. Our wonderful Dad has fought diabetes most of his life. He fought this losing battle with the same tenacity that he lived his life, with a bold and courageous spirt that can only come from our Lord Jesus Christ. Our Dad was sweet, kind and honorable and he adored his family. His most important goal in life was being a Godly man striving to live like Christ. He loved the Lord. All who knew and loved him will miss his infectious smile, his sweet demeanor and his empathy for others. He chose to adopt his two daughters Sharon Dermond and Beverly Lemley to be his kids, and we are forever grateful for that. We couldn't have asked for a better dad, mentor, and example of what a parent should be. Thank you Dad, you will be missed always. God has now chosen this day to be your time to fly amongst the angels. We love you."

Gary leaves behind his wife Diwanna and her family; his four kids, Allen, Robert, Sharon and Beverly and their spouses; his brother Don and sister Fiona, loads of nieces and nephews, and a multitude of grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his church family, a family that he worshiped with his whole life. A church that he loved, adored and the family that he bonded with.
