Humberto "Chumbe" Benavidez, 83, passed away in Bakersfield, California. Chumbe was born to Maria Otilia De la Garza and Adan Benavidez in Robstown, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Yolanda Hernandez Benavidez, children Bert, Humberto "Reno", Rodger (Lisa) and Maria "Magda", grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as extended family. Predeceased by his son, Alex.
He exemplified strength to the end. We will always remember his love for his family, his home state of Texas, western movies, Mexican corrido music and pan dulce.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.
A visitation for Humberto will be held Thursday, September 30, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306. A holy mass will occur Friday, October 1, 2021 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at St Phillip the Apostle Church, 7100 Stockdale Hwy, Bakersfield, CA 93309. A holy burial will occur Friday, October 1, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306.
