

Jacqueline Y. Jackson Hill was born January 17, 1941 in Louisville Kentucky to James B. Jackson and Ruth Conn and was called home April 20, 2017 in Bakersfield, California. Jacqueline was the second child born of 12 children. She married James R. Hill September 23, 1956 and moved to Bakersfield, California in early 1960 where she resided for the past 61 years.
During her early years Jacqueline was a stay at home mom caring for her children. In 1970 she took her first job at Crandall Foods. She worked at Crandall for about three years and then took a job with the Bakersfield City School District as a food service worker. During her employment she was able to work her way to Cafeteria Manager were she continued to work until she retired in 2005 after 38 years of service. After a brief break in employment she returned to work and remained employed as a substitute manager until her death.
She became a member of Cain Memorial AME Church in the mid-1990s and remained a member until 2006. After visiting several churches she became a member of Pleasant View Missionary Baptist Church serving on the hospitality committee.
Jacqueline enjoyed arts & crafts, scrapbooking, decorating for the holidays especially Christmas. Her favorite thing to do was enjoy her family. She loved cooking and preparing home-cooked meals and cooking for big family gatherings. She was also very active when she could in her grandchildren and great grandchildren activities. One of her favorite past time things to do was being silly, creating funny moments with the grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Jacqueline was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James R Hill of 45 years, a son Bruce D Hill, her sister Patricia A Norwood, 3 brothers James M Jackson, Leroy Jenkins, Irvin & Aaron Briggs, all of Los Angeles, California and a son–law Charles A Newton, Jr. of Bakersfield, California.
Jacqueline leaves to cherish her memory a son Dennis W Hill Sr. of Bakersfield, California, 3 daughters Janis K (Hill) Newton, and Gloria J (Hill) Sullivan both of Sacramento, California and Jacqueline M (Hill) Johnson and husband Paul A Johnson, Sr. of Bakersfield, California. 19 grandchildren and 58 great grandchildren. Also, leaving to mourn her memory 1 sister Kevin D Washington of Moreno Valley, California, brothers Charles E Briggs of Indiana, Gary A Briggs and wife Marie of Fresno, California, Anthony Briggs of Victorville, California, Larry and Darryl Briggs, both of Bakersfield, California and many other family and friends that will miss her dearly. Jacqueline had such a beautiful smile that would light up the room and we will all miss that.
In ending, the children of Jacqueline would like to say: There is no greater love than the love you have for your mother and there is no greater loss than when she leaves you and go to Heaven.
