JOANNE CAMILLE SIMON January 20, 1929 - May 13, 2013 Funeral services will be held at the Hillcrest Memorial Park at 10:00am on Monday, May 20, 2013 for Joanne Camille Simon, who passed away on May 13, 2013. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. through 8:00pm on Sunday, May 19th at Hillcrest Mortuary. Joanne was born January 20, 1929 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Gerald and Myrtle Walker. She was educated in Lincoln, and then moved to Bakersfield, California to marry Richard (Dick) Simon on May 28, 1948. Joanne worked as a secretary with the Social Security Administration for one year, Lockheed for 4 years, the law firm of Mack Bianco King & Eyherabide for 26 years, and the Kern County Superior Court for 22 years. Joanne and Dick enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and many foreign countries. During the last year of her life, Joanne lived with her son Charles in Santa Barbara, and enjoyed the beauty and charm of this coastal resort, walked along the beach frequently, and delighted in the many fine restaurants. Most recently when passenger ships docked in the harbor for a day, she would have lunch on the wharf just a short distance from the ships, and enjoy watching the passengers come ashore. Her parents and husband predeceased her, as did her uncle and aunt, Harlow and Edith Walker of New York City. She leaves behind a son, Charles Gregory Simon, of Santa Barbara, California; and a niece, Barbara June Simon, of Hoboken, New Jersey.
