John Wesley Richard

John attended the local Bakersfield city schools and went to Bakersfield High School where he played football, excelled in running track which he was given the nickname, “Rabbit” due to his speed. He loved dancing to music and making people laugh.

In 1968, John was united in holy matrimony to Janice Johnson and with their union was born two daughters.

Later John resided in Los Angeles for 48 years and there he spent years working as a forklift driver for Samson and Sons trucking company.

John leaves behind to cherish his memory: (Sister) Gloria Rixter, (Brother) Robert Richard, (Daughter) Marcy Jones, (Son-in-law) Armand Jones, a host of nieces and nephews, three grandchildren and four great- grand children.

He was preceded in death by: (Parents) Thelma and Pearlean Richard; (Brothers) Arthur and Rickey Richard; (Sisters) Doris Richard and Barbara Riley and (Daughter) Bonny Richard.

A visitation for John will be held Monday, January 4, 2021 from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Hillcrest Memorial Park Chapel located at 9101 Kern Canyon Road in Bakersfield, California.

A graveside service will occur Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Hillcrest Memorial Park where he will be laid to rest in the garden of hope.
