Khalid Hussein cherished and beloved son and brother passed away in his home unexpectedly Wednesday, December 11, 2024. He was 38 years old; three days shy of his 39th birthday.

Khalid was born December 14, 1985 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He also lived in Egypt, Minnesota, Wisconsin and California. He graduated Pacific Grove, California High School in 2004, and attended the Youth Arts Collective (YAC) in Monterey, California. Among his many awards and achievements, he was awarded a full scholarship to UCLA where he earned a BFA in Studio Art and a Master’s degree in Islamic Studies. Khalid lived in Los Angeles. He worked for Zanbeel Arts educating children in the Arts. He also started a new job as a rotating substitute teacher for the greater Los Angeles area.

Khalid was an amazing Artist, painter and writer. He loved History, Languages, Reading, Film, Music and so much more. He was a passionate advocate for Social Justice and Racial Equality. He was a very creative and multi-talented young man with a very kind, loving, generous heart and great sense of humor.

Khalid is survived by his parents: Ayman F.B. Hussein and Deborah L Hussein- Bakersfield, California, his brother Omar Hussein- Los Angeles, sister Marwa Hussein- Bakersfield, brother Bill Erickson- Somerset, WI, sister in law Angie Erickson- Somerset, nieces Meghan Erickson Rochester- MN, Kaylee Erickson- Somerset. Numerous Aunts, Uncles and cousins across the U.S. and Egypt, and a wide circle of friends who became family.

Khalid’s exceptional intellect, Artistic talent and generous spirit has left an indelible mark on the Art Community and the countless lives he touched.

His brilliant light will shine forever in the hearts of all who knew him.

May he rest eternally in God's Heavenly peace.
