Manuel was born in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. He later migrated with his parents and siblings to Lamont, CA. He was the youngest of five.
At the age of 18, Manuel, enlisted in the USMC. He served in the Vietnam War as a rifleman in 1972-1973. He took pride in his service to our country and often spoke about and remembered the “brothers” that fought alongside him. He received a National Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with a bronze star. He was a very proud USMC Veteran.
Manuel was a loving father of two. His son Manuel Angel Nunez Jr. and his daughter, Laura Wallace, loved him dearly and will always cherish the memories they shared with him. He was a loving grandfather of 5 grandkids: Ashley Nunez, Ale Rosales, Jeremiah Rosales, Ventura Wallace, and Urijah Wallace. He took the time to get to know each grandchild individually. He often joked with them and was even caught wrestling with the 2 youngest grandchildren on several occasions, despite his physical limitations.
On his spare time, he loved to sing Karaoke, dance, watch war/action movies. He loved his Mexican food. One of his favorite restaurants was El Zarape. But in his quiet time, he read the Bible and shared bible verses and inspirational quotes with all his friends on Facebook. He was a Christian with a strong belief in God.
Just like he dealt with all experiences in life, Manuel managed his many illnesses with faith, strength, and valor, and wanted to spend as much time with his loved ones as possible. On his final day, he was surrounded by his children, who he adored more than anything else in the world.
Manuel was preceded in death by his parents Adelaida and Ruben Nunez and by his brothers Francisco Nunez and Ruben Parra Nunez. He is survived by his children, grandchildren, his sister Irma Cortez, and brother Mario Nunez; and numerous nieces and nephews; family and friends.
