Joe was born on August 16, 1942, to Gilbert and Marcelina "Marce" DeLaney. Joe grew up in Bakersfield and attended North High School. After graduating, Joe went to work for Hopper Inc., as a steel fabricator and worked there for over 20 years. In 1980, Joe started his own steel fabricating business, DeLaney Manufacturing, and ran his business for 30 years.
Joe was an avid fisherman and hunter. He spent many weekends hiking into fishing holes or hunting dove and quail, and he also loved his family's annual camping trip to McGree Creek. Joe had a sunny disposition, a good sense of humor, an unshakable faith in God, and a strong work ethic. He was a beloved father and husband, married almost 51 years to the love of his life, Kathy. Joe will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Joe was predeceased by his father and mother and is survived by his wife, Kathy; daughters Jackie DeLaney and Dana Phares (Rob); step-son Michael Combs (Charlene); grandchildren Jimmy and Catherine; and step-grandchildren WhiteEagle Daniel and Forest Daniel.
A funeral service will be held on March 21, 2024, at 10:00 am, in the Chapel at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306.
