Michael was born in Bakersfield, Ca. on October 11,1951. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Collins & Gloria Mallory
Mike was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, water skiing, swimming and appreciating Gods creations. He loved spending summers on the lake creating family memories with his sons and grandchildren. In later years he was blessed to have a home over looking the High Sierras with his wife Janine where they spent time fishing on the Kern River.
As a child, some of his fondest memories were watching "Gunsmoke" with grandpa Bill and eating grandma Ann's homemade powdered donuts while drinking hot coco. In addition, he looked forward to swimming during the summer days with his brother and friends at the Union Avenue Plunge. Mike was a varsity wrestler at South High School and played both offense and defense for the football team. His enthusiasm for athletics led him to train and complete three triathlons in his mid 30's.
Mike would like to say he persevered through 40 plus years in the oil industry earning multiple certificates along with finishing an AA degree at Bakersfield College, with a major in oil field science. The last part of his career he was a "Senior Dyno Technician" at Anatesco, Inc.
But Mike’s greatest passion was his love for God and family. He was proudest when his three sons developed into God fearing men and with God’s help raised morally straight loving families of their own.
He is survived by his wife, Janine Collins; his four children, Brian Collins, Bob Collins, Michael Collins Jr., and Alysia Beene; and his grandchildren; Megan, Gage, Cade, Avery, Taya & Mary Collins; siblings; David Collins, John Collins and Christi Tallman.
