

Norman "Bob" Jack Eccles 1930 - 2010 Norman "Bob" Jack Eccles was born March 24, 1930 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the son of Norman Clements and Ferrole Hanson Eccles. He passed away July 25, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. His family moved to California where he attended schools in the bay area. He served in the United States Navy from 1948 - 1952 aboard the U.S.S. Atka and U.S.S. San Pablo. Bob married his childhood friend, Bonnie Jean Dick, on October 4, 1952 in Saratoga, CA. He worked in the trucking industry for forty-five years and was President of a trucking company at the time of his retirement in 1997. Bob had a great love for his family and valued loyal friendship. He kept us all laughing with his great sense of humor. He was very patriotic and enjoyed Harley Davidson motorcycles, cars and country music. As a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Bob had a very strong faith. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sharon Ann Cornwell. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-seven years Bonnie; daughters, Allyson (JR) Nielsen and Jeanette (Dan) Lackey; grandchildren, Jessica, Christine and Ben; great grandchildren, Mia, Noah and Ryan; his Aunt Pearl Eccles Hilton of Salt Lake City; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be held on Friday, July 30, 2010, at 2:00 p.m., at Hillcrest Memorial Park Chapel, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306. Graveside service will follow on the Hill of Valor. There will be a viewing on Thursday, July 29, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Hillcrest Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society . Arrangements under the direction of Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary, Bakersfield, CA.
