

Services will be held Monday, January 23rd, at 10:00 am for Patricia Ann Blackhurst in the chapel at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary. Patricia was born October 15, 1929 in Beatrice Nebraska and passed away on January 10th in Bakersfield, Ca. She attended UCLA and Glendale College while working in Los Angeles. She met her husband, Richard, at Graybar Electric and subsequently married him in 1953. They moved to Bakersfield in 1958 where they raised five children forming the large family she had always wanted.
Patricia began working for Kern County in 1964 and continued until her retirement 25 years later. She stayed active after retirement doing volunteer work at the Kern County Library as well as working local elections and the information desk at the Kern County Administrative Center.
She enjoyed spending time traveling, quilting, sewing, gardening, reading and attending the many events of her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, and son, Peter. She is survived by her children David, Paul (Stephanie), Linda (Charlie), and Tim and a host of great and great-great-grandchildren. She lived a full and rewarding life, spending most of her time doing what she loved most - being with her family. She will be missed dearly.
The family expresses their sincere appreciation to Patricia's granddaughters, Tanya Vega and Nia Gonzalez, as well as her nurse, Vicki, and physical therapist, Zeina, who helped provide care for Patricia in her final days.
