Richard moved between LA, Arizona, and Kern County early in life. He joined the Army in 1955 and served until late 1958. He permanently relocated to Kern County in the early 80’s. Richard met and married the love of his life Inez, and they enjoyed over 38 years of marriage. Richard loved having family and friends in the house and always looked forward to the chatter and laughter that followed.
Richard believed in the teachings of the gospel and is the best example we know of how the love of God can change a life. He was a constant witness to those around him. He made several visits to South America completing nearly 20 missions before his health stopped him.
Richard also developed a passion for exercise. He completed an impressive 16 marathons, seven half marathons, and five high endurance runs of over 50k. When an injury threatened to stop him, he switched to biking and working out at the local gym. It is no surprise that he developed many friendships within the gym circle and riding communities. Anywhere Dad went, he provided light, love and respect to those around him. His kindness and energy were infectious.
Richard is survived by his children and their spouses, Bonnie and husband Joe Quiñonez, Joann Rigor, Patricia and husband Roger Cherry; Benny Ridenour, Bobby Ridenour, Barton and wife Lucy Ridenour.
Richard is also survived by many grandchildren: Celestina Quiñonez, Krystal Ridenour, Alyssia and husband Joe Quiñonez, Barton Ridenour Jr., Justyn and wife Sam Ridenour, Bobby Ridenour Jr., Jason and wife Jackie Cherry, Justin Cherry, and Jinae and husband Brian Heldmann. Richard was also blessed with many nieces and nephews and multiple great grandchildren.
