Born January 6, 1957, in Merced, California – Rick loved to watch movies, classic TV shows & football. He also loved to bake his “Murillo Sized” cookies.
Growing up in Merced, Rick loved to play all kinds of sports; football, baseball, wrestling & martial arts. He also loved to golfing, go camping, hunting and fishing. All of which he passed the love down to his kids, grandkids & great grandkids.
He loved to hang out with his cousins that were more like brothers; Johnny Rodriguez, Joe Vasquez, Cooky Martinez, Tony Martinez, Timmy Rodriguez & Mike Torres.
Nothing was more important than his family. From games to meets, recitals to shows, graduations and ceremonies, you name it, he was there to cheer you on. You needed a coach for your team, he was there for that too! Rick loved to attend hotrod shows and vacation in Hawaii with his wife.
While attending South High School, Rick participated in the ROC program earning his meat cutter certification and starting at FoodTown in 1974. He then moved on to working for Safeway in 1975, then onto Vons 1978. He retired from Vons in 2010. Rick was a member of UFCW Local 137 for 46 years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus & Fraternal Order of Eagles.
He is preceded in death by his father Jesse Murillo, sister Candy Griffith & son Michael Anthony Murillo.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Rosie Murillo. Mother-in-law Amalia Esparza. Children; Richard Murillo II & Andrea Murillo, Veronica Gonzales & Adrian Gonzales, Valentino Murillo & Jolene Murillo and Jessica Murillo. Grandchildren; Rosie Chavez & Victor Chavez IV, Jonathan Gonzales, Desiree Gonzales, Ivory Murillo, Gabby Gonzales, Michael R. Murillo, Eden Murillo, James Vera & Valentino Murillo Jr. Great-grandchildren; Nevaeh Chavez & Elianna Chavez. Brother-in-law Mike Griffith.
Services will be held Wednesday November 24, 2021 at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Visitation 11:00am - 12:00pm, Rosary 12:15pm, Chapel Service 1:30pm followed by graveside services on the Sunrise Lawn.
