

Richard was born August 23, 1941 to Vyrlee and Richard Sloss in Guthrie Center Iowa. Moved to Bakersfield with his family in 1951. He joined the Army on August 28 1959. Only 5 days after his 18th birthday. He served our Country until August 16 1962. On July 27 1964 the army issued a Standby order for possible deployment during the Vietnam War. During that time Richard was a Machinist for the oilfield until retirement age.
Richard’s parents Vyrlee and Richard proceeded him in death. He is survived by his wife Sandra Sloss. He has two sisters, Judy Johnson and Joyce and husband Michael Ayers and brother Jack Sloss. Multiple nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews. He has two sons Sean and wife Shelly Sloss, Troy and wife Kimberly and a daughter Cyndi and husband Adam Skidmore. He has 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He also has two stepdaughters . Barbara and husband Steven Thornton and Linda and husband Jim Graham. Stepson John Rees proceeded him in death. He had 5 step grandchildren and 10 step great grandchildren.
Richard’s favorite hobby and passion belonged to golf. He truly loved the sport. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Richard was a wonderful man. He was a true joy to be around. Always with a smile on his face. He will be missed more than words can express.
