Roberto Sierra Lopez

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved father, Roberto S. Lopez (AKA, Bobby) who left us in the early morning of February 3, 2025, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer. He was 65 years old.

Bobby was born on June 24, 1959, to David and Mary Lopez, who, along with his older sisters, Sofia and Susana, preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving children: Sophia (Ruben Torres), Roberto (Brittany) Lopez Jr., Ruben (Michelle) Moreno, Anthony, and Daniel. He was a proud grandfather to his cherished grandchildren and a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews. Bobby also leaves behind his brother David (Carmen), and his sister Sandy (Alfred De La Rosa).

From the young age of 17, Bobby found his passion on the open road as a truck driver, dedicating many years to both driving and dispatching. Our Dad built more than just a career, he enjoyed working with his hands and helping people. He always had time to help anyone who asked, and if he didn't, he made time. He could build, fix, and create anything we asked him to. Bringing ideas to life whether it was a building or landscaping project. Dad was skilled when it came to anything having to do with vehicles or machinery. Lucky for us this meant our family hardly ever needed a mechanic because he enjoyed fixing cars and anything mechanical.

Whether he was outdoors enjoying the fresh air or surrounded by people, Dad always found a way to bring laughter to those around him. His presence was felt through his laughter, his jokes, and his wisdom, which he shared even when we didn’t know we needed to hear it.

Dad’s love extended beyond family and friends to his loyal Dachshunds, Clifford and Stitch. Clifford passed a few years ago, and now, in a bittersweet reunion, Stitch has followed his dad into heaven.

Our Dad’s legacy is one of resilience, hard work, friendship, and love. His laughter, guidance, and unwavering support will be deeply missed but forever cherished in our hearts.

Rest easy, Dad. Your road continues in heaven.

A visitation and rosary will be held in his honor at Grace Assembly of God, located at 2800 Larson Lane, Bakersfield, California 93304, on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.

A Mass celebrating his life will take place on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Francis Roman Catholic Church, 900 H St, Bakersfield, California 93304. Following the Mass, he will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 9101 Kern Canyon Rd., Bakersfield, California 93306, in the Garden of Peace.
