Ruth Adelle Stevens, born on April 13, 1956, in Taft, California, passed away unexpectedly on April 1, 2025, in Bakersfield, California. Known for her loving and caring nature, Ruth was a devoted mother to her daughter Jennifer Meadows and her cherished grandchildren-three grandsons and two granddaughters, son Christopher Meadows, and soon-to-be daughter-in-law Jessica Groves. She is also survived by her brothers Rob Walters, Tim Stevens, Noel Stevens, and Matt Stevens, sisters Janet Buist and Mary Whitlach. Her beloved dogs, Penny, also known as Ladybug, and Spur, held a special place in her heart.
Preceded in death by her husband John Meadows, father Billy Ray Stevens, Mother Dorothy Stevens, stepmother Gretta Stevens, and brother Kenice Stevens, Ruth's legacy of love endures.
Ruth was dedicated to her community, serving nearly 20 years as a social worker for Kern County and still working at the time of her passing. She earned her teaching degree and a master's in social work from CSUB. Ruth also taught at Saint Mary's School in Delano and eventually became the principal there. Her love for family and animals was evident in all she did.
