Theodore "T. Glen" Brown

Theodore (Glen) was born to Theodore and Ada Brown in Pecos, Texas. His family moved to Bakersfield in the early 1930s and has resided here since. Glen graduated from Bakersfield College and went on to the University of Southern California. Glen also commuted to Fresno College to teach Criminology in the 1960s. During his first week at Bakersfield College, he met his lifetime sweetheart, Patricia Klein. They celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary before Patty’s passing in 2017. Glen joined the war effort in 1945 where he served as an Aeronautics Electrician in the US Navy. Returning to Bakersfield after the war, he found employment with the Juvenile Hall Offices of the County of Kern, where he served from 1951 to 1988. Throughout his career he rose to the office of Chief of Probation, served as a Juvenile Justice Judge, and enjoyed a stint as the Rotary President. A few of his accomplishments were to help establish Camp Owens in Kernville, the Crisis Resolution Center, P.A.C.K., the Girl’s Home, serve as the President of the California Chief Probation Officers Association (which he thoroughly enjoyed),and even being a Cub Scout Pack Leader. One of Glen’s greatest accomplishments was helping in the creation and design of the Juvenile Justice Center where this building was dedicated in his honor in 1989. Glen’s life was devoted to his wife and his career. After retiring in 1988 due to a medical issue, he began a few hobbies such as remote control airplanes, remodeling his daughter’s cabins, visits with wife and friends in Las Vegas, and working in his garage. Glen is survived by his four children, Clifford (Linda),Lawrence (Joyce), Vince (Kelli), and Christie (Tom), 8 grandchildren and 10great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Patty, brother Charles, and his parents. A special THANK YOU to the exceptional staff at The Village at Seven Oaks Memory Care Facility and to Hoffman Hospice. Services will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield. Viewing: Thursday, October 11th, 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
