I would like to speak on behalf of those who worked with Wayne in the meter shop at Pacific Power in Yakima, WA.  Journeymen Ben Martin, Dave Dittmer, Larry Chiatovich, Ray Monroe, Doug Moore and myself. Apprentices Gabe Rhodes, Nick Graiff and Carole Skolrud.  Wayne was well liked and highly respected by all of us. He came with a wealth of knowledge and experience and we learned a lot from him.  He was a hard worker who carried himself with integrity and dignity. He also brought a great sense of humor to the group that helped to make it a fun place to work.  We all knew of his deep love for his wife Gloria and his family because he always shared his heart with us.  Wayne developed lasting relationships in Yakima and remained in contact with us throughout the years.  And we greatly appreciated hearing from him.  Those who were apprentices at the time have spoken on Wayne’s Facebook page of how much he meant to their success and the impact he had on their lives. But the person most impacted by Wayne was Carole Skolrud.  She was the first female metering apprentice in the history of Pacific Power. It was kind of overwhelming to her at first and Wayne took her under his wing.  Wayne liked to kid around with Carole and she enjoyed responding to it.  It was like watching a running episode of the Honeymooners with Ralph Cramden and Alice constantly cracking wise to each other.  It was hilarious to watch. Carole was good at it but Wayne was masterful.  Carole contacted me and told about how she spoke with Wayne before his recent surgery.  She said that Wayne was very emotional about what he was facing and admitted to being scared. And then he said to her…..almost as scared as when I worked with you.  In Carole’s own words, “what a guy”.  I felt a special kinship with Wayne because we put the word journey in the term Journeyman.  We both worked in Alaska, Washington, Oregon and California.  We both finished our careers at PG&E.   Now he is finally home with Jesus.

I met Wayne when he was working for ML&P in Anchorage, then later worked with him when he came to Chugach Electric in the Metering Dept. I had company seniority on him , but he had work history and experience on me. He happily excepted working for me and teaching me at the same time.  In the course of working together he often spoke about his family. From what he spoke and how he spoke about his family,   I could hear and feel the love he had for his family.  He also spoke a lot about fishing, not necessarily catching, but as long as he was on the water floating in his tube he was happy. After Wayne retired from Chugach and moved out of state, he didn't quite get the idea of retirement, as he continued to work for at least 4 other Metering Depts in at least as many states . I had by then changed his status to "my Guru" when ever I had an issue or problem to solve, Wayne was always ready and happy to help. In our time together Wayne's love of family, fishing, motorcycle riding, work, the people around him and God was very evident and I will truly miss him. Gloria, Josh and Daisy as well as the rest of the family I offer my condolences and prayers

I worked with Wayne at Chugach electric in Anchorage, Ak. Wayne was a nice person that had a trove of electrical knowledge, he taught me many things while having common conversations. I'm saddened to hear he passed and give my condolences to his family.
